SNS 096: The Profoundness of Blessings Psalm 67
Can I just say that moving is one of my least favorite things in the world to do? But for the past two weeks, that’s where I have been, moving. But thankfully, that is all behind us now. I apologize that it got in the way of getting this episode to you an episode last week. But we’re back, we’re moving, and here we go with episode 96. Thank you for understanding. Enjoy.
Now, can I just say, concerning this Psalm, that the thing that impressed me most in this concise poem is that the Psalmist covers so much ground? This is perhaps the shortest Psalm we have ever done, but it is absolutely full of information. It is all about blessings—God’s blessing his people and the Psalmist celebrating that blessing. Yet, instead of quickly passing over this psalm and relegating it to a simple psalm about God’s blessings, let’s take a moment to steep in what is actually being said. When we do this, we find that it reveals something profoundly profound about those blessings. Well, I tell you what, let’s first hear the psalm. Then we’ll chat about it.
Also, before beginning, this podcast is sponsored by our book, Psalms 1-72, A Simple Not Shallow Presentation. This book collects the Psalms heard on the Psalm Tuesday episodes. And it presents them in a manner that helps reveal the prayerfulness of the Psalms. That is exciting! I’ve provided a couple of links in the show notes for this episode. One to my website where you can learn more about this book and another to where it is located on Amazon.com, and one more, to its location on Barnes and Noble.com, just for your convenience. So, go ahead and collect your copy today.
And now, my name is Charles, and this is Psalm Tuesday here on the Simple Not Shallow Podcast. This podcast is for those who want a deeper faith and not an aggressively mediocre one. Psalm Tuesday is a series in which we will listen to a psalm being read in a manner that honors its original use as part of a worship service. Here in episode #96, we are listening to Psalm 67.
